Given that I just bought my printer, it it likely that the Marlin firmware is that far out of date? I guess MakerGear wouldn't want to adopt every change as it comes along without testing, but freezing the code to a seriously out of date revision seems counter productive.
It looks like M115 can check the firmware revision. I'll see what it has to say at some point.
At least for now, I don't expect to be doing anything out of the ordinary. I may still write a filament insertion macro. My computer is across the room from the printer, and if I put in a delay, I'll have time to run over & push on the filament to get it started.
