Simplify3D Application Error 0xc000007b...

Mr. Noob here, but have been learning all about 3D Printing for over a year now.

I am trying to install my new and first time, mind you, download of the recent version of the Simplify3D 64-bit Win 7 software and it barfs with an error each time I try to run it after the installer is done. Yes, my Acer Ferrari Netbook is a X2 Dual Core AMD L310, 1.20ghz, 4gb ram etc., so I know it can run it, but after uninstall, reboot, re-install and just about every iteration of typical sw load issues, including virus scan and chkdsk /f /r it just will not play nice.

I am at a loss. My PC is running fine with no problems what so ever, but still can't run the new Simplify3D 64 bit for Win 7. I guess I'll try the 32 bit and see if that works. Very frustrating as I want/need this sw so I can print my first object on my new MakerGear M2.

I did leave a message over at Simplify3D, but no response as of yet, so I thought I would try over here.

BTW a BIG THANKS to all who support this forum, as I was one of the 'lurkers' for quite awhile until I decided to pull the trigger due to this great forum and MG's great reputation and support, AND thanks in advance for any ideas as to how to resolve this issue.

My guess is you are running 32 bit Windows. You cannot run 64 bit apps unless Windows is also 64 bit.

If the 32 bit version doesn't work I would email S3D support directly. They don't seem to respond to forum posts very often, but they are responsive to emails.

Just poking around using "0xc000007b" as a search parameter, it seems that the 32bit vs 64 bit problem is the most common cause, but there are others that may apply here. Specifically, problems with the graphics drivers for DirectX or OpenGL. My guess is S3D uses OpenGL since it's cross-platform, but then it may come down to the specific drivers for your graphics card.

There are many links you can find. Here's one where the problem was solved by re-installing the DirectX drivers:

Lol! Tomshardware is the exact post I was referencing. I've been in the IT world before and my OS is definitely Win 7 64bit, but it would have been nice if it was as simple as that. I run 3D Max 64 bit plus other 64 bit software on it too. Still waiting for Simplify3D to answer. Meanwhile I'll try the Direct X refresh. Thanks guys for the prompt reply! Don't hold your breath with this one. :D

haha. great minds search alike!

still guessing that if it's a graphics driver problem it's more likely to be opengl than directx, especially if 3d max works. (well that's another guess on my part that 3d max uses directX since 3d max is windows based. so it's a lot of guesses i guess :/ )

i'm sure there's a solution. i haven't heard of anyone having this problem with s3d so it's not likely to be a bug on their end. good luck and let us know how it gets worked out.
