IceSL: fast OpenSCAD + slicer

Post by jsc » Fri Apr 25, 2014 6:38 am

I just came across IceSL (http://webloria.loria.fr/~slefebvr/icesl/), which is a programming language-based modeler plus included slicer. For the OpenSCAD fans out there, I think it's definitely worth a look. It is heavily GPU accelerated, and currently only runs on NVidia cards that run full OpenGL 4.3, so I can't run it myself. It addresses one of the downsides of OpenSCAD, the slowness of the CGAL triangulation process for complex models. And it has a built-in slicer, so it doesn't have to go through an intermediate conversion to STL step.

So for that vanishingly small (possibly zero) intersection of people on this forum who like OpenSCAD and have a recent NVidia GPU card, check it out.
