V4 and simplify 3D

Post by PcS » Sat Mar 14, 2015 11:42 pm

So I just had to reload all things 3D on my new computer. Opened simplify and selected the makergear profile. Looked good printing till it got off first layer and went full speed. The extruder jumped a tooth on a rapid jerk. Tightened the belts and lubed the slides . Same thing . Then I noticed the default printing speed is set to 4800. I slowed it to 3200 and slowed x-y movements down and it fixed it. My question is what is the proper defaults ? And could this be related to the new V4 upgrade being heavier ?
Thanks in advance .

4800 is default and is quick but not overly crazy. You can lower acceleration if you want but if you are skipping a tooth at 4800 then your belts are probably loose.

I tightened them as tight as they would go. Even use a screwdriver to pry it over. I do not think i could get it tighter. Will have to do some more investigation .

Have you lowered the accelleration on your machine? 3000 is default. Many of us run that around 1000. Its been so long but i think that was an m201 or m204 command. Maybe someone can chime in on that. I also run my movement speed in s3d at 9000. I think default is 18000.
