Re: Polyimide Tape
What's the secret of putting this stuff down without a lot of air pockets, short of the solution- squeegee method like
installing vinyl letters?
installing vinyl letters?

Soapy water and a squeegie. Some useful videos linked from this old thread: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/makerge ... kvynVmqeQJ

Re: Polyimide Tape
As an ex sign shop employee, I would recommend isopropyl or denatured alcohol mixed 50/50 with water.
Soap works, but leaves a film. Alcohol lowers the density of the water, making it "wetter" and also aids evaporation/drying. We kept spray bottles of it mixed for applying vinyl lettering.
Now, I do not use polyamide tape, so cannot say if this technique will work for you. Just telling what worked for us.
Soap may actually aid in removing the tape later. YMMV.

I'm finally back to where I started two days ago!

Re: Polyimide Tape
HI. Been awhile since I checked back - sorry about that.
Sounds obvious - but thicker polyimde goes down and stays down better. We just got 4mil polyimide in stock and I can tell you it makes a world of difference. 2mil works great too, but 4mil gets you spoiled pretty quickly. We have 1mil rolls that works well if you have a removable glass plate. Trying to put down 1mil tape on a build platform that doesn't come off will drive you crazy (Makerbot, Flashforge, etc…).
We just got our M2 today and can't wait to put it to work. We make / sell a wide variety of filaments and we've been waiting for this printer with high hopes. So far - we are very impressed.
Hope this adds some flavor to the conversation - 3DXTech

Re: Polyimide Tape
You mentioned ultem above. Is this a material you already have available or is it in development? I have read that Stratasys has ultem, but have not seen it available anywhere else. Interested in any info you might share
Re: Polyimide Tape
Hi.
Since we have our new M2, we made sure to have some sizes specifically for our printer and for yours! We added 5-packs to fit the M2 in both 2mil and 4mil sheets.
Our list price is on our website (http://www.3dxtech.com/polyimide-tape), but the 8" x 10" polyimide pricing is:
2mil 5-pack sheets: $14.95
2mil 10-pack sheets: $19.95
4mil 5-pack sheets: $19.95
Of course pricing is subject to change, blah, blah, legal words, etc…
Thanks and hope to see you soon.

Re: Polyimide Tape
BTW - we ordered the E3Dv6 and hope to get it hooked up soon. We have some seriously cool plans in the works for that thing!

Probably spoke too soon about the Ultemover-$-pent wrote:You mentioned ultem above. Is this a material you already have available or is it in development? I have read that Stratasys has ultem, but have not seen it available anywhere else. Interested in any info you might share

Visit our site and sign-up for the newsletter feed. We put out the new products there and via our Facebook friends.
We should have some good news before the snow starts flying - well it might be flying - but hopefully it won't be sticking (we're in Michigan).
Thanks

Re: Polyimide Tape
It may seem unpractical, but having some sort of steam around not only keeps the air bubbles away, but keeps unnecessary particles from settling down on the application surface. Maybe check into this one? http://products.robertmckeown.com/viewi ... rical-tape?
