Using octoprint on a laptop

Post by johnr » Sat Apr 04, 2015 3:25 pm

Hey guys, I recently found out about octoprint which allows you to control you 3d printer from the internet. But the problem is, I don't have a windows 7 or raspberrypi. Do you know if I could just do it on a windows 8 laptop? So that I could just hook it up to my laptop and just make sure it's printing correctly from my phone. Thanks.

It should work fine in Windows 8 following the Windows 7 instructions, but I haven't tried it personally.

Raspberry Pis come very cheap and you don't have to worry about it going to sleep.

I had good luck with Octoprint. I currently am not using it as I have a plethora of laptops sitting around and so I just run Simplify on the printer's laptop.

Thanks for replying guys, I went through the whole process and all and right on the last instructions is where it failed. It says KeyError 'branch' on the last line in the console. Do you have any idea what's wrong? Thanks.
