Best Support Generator
Best Support Generator
Hey guys, I've looking online for some support generators that will allow me to fully costumize the support, make good quality prints, and come off easily. I know a lot of you might say that simplify 3d is the best, but I'm just wondering if there's an alternative to that. What is the best support material generator that you guys know of? Thanks in advance.
Re: Best Support Generator
It's Simplify3D, hands down.
Slic3r's "pillars" is pretty good, and some say Cura's "lines" is close to Simplify3D, but ... it's not. Simplify3D would be worth the $150 price tag as a plugin for Repetier-Host or OctoPrint alone, even without any of the "run your machine" stuff.

Re: Best Support Generator
Meshmixer has some support generation stuff that's supposed to be decent. I had some issues with it getting knocked over when I tried to print a part with Meshmixer support once. Haven't played with it myself.
Re: Best Support Generator
Thanks for your reply. Is there anyway I can get it cheaper than what it is? I really blew my money on the 3d printer and cut my "allowance" for a couple months.
Re: Best Support Generator
Thanks also for your reply. I've read about meshmixer, but people say that it's more for figurines and stuff. I think I'll see if simplify3d has some sort of discount. If they have a good one I think that I'll just go for simplify 3d. Thanks again guys.
Re: Best Support Generator
I have not seen a way to get it at a discount. I am glad that I got it. But if it didn't exist, I could use Slic3r and be happy.
Re: Best Support Generator
nope no discounts on s3d. not in the past 2 years. price has only gone up.
