Cersei Lannister Necklace

Finished up this necklace recently.
The two pendants on the right are ABS at .15mm layer height.
On the left is PETG at .15mm layer height.
Anything obvious that I could improve with the print?

What did you use for reference? The best image I could find was this one. From what I can see, your model looks very accurate.

How did you paint all those fine elements so neatly?

I like the texture on the lion from the layering, but if you don't want that you could use something as a filler and sand it smooth. Although it would be hard to do that without losing detail when painting, like on the mane lines. You could also maybe extrude the lion up to be flush with the top of the dome, but that would lose its curve.

You're a wizard with SolidWorks, by the way. Where did you learn it?

All of the gold paint is just from dry brushing on top of a black base coat.

I may try a little more smoothing on the top lion part.

I started using Solidworks about 1.5 years ago in college. I also use it at my day job as a CNC programmer. Doing that type of work doesn't help much with complex geometry though, I've only become better with that through hours and hours of "just figuring it out". A lot of the things I do could probably be done easier or faster in a mesh modeler, but that's foreign to me. I'm still learning in solidworks all the time.

Solidworks still interests me for some reason. I am still learning rhino 5 . Do you have any experience with rhino ? I just wonder how they compare ? Ohh and Awesome work on the necklace !!!!

No, I have no experience with Rhino. I've only heard that it's very similar to Solidworks.

Rhino and Solidworks are two completely different animals. Rhino acts more like a traditional quad-modeler, heavy on the NURBS. Solidworks is all construction plane driven - very rigid and orderly but incredibly easy to make changes to your earliest build parts. If you're building Cersei's necklace I'd go Rhino every day of the week. If you're building a sheetmetal enclosure or a car engine that will have several revisions, I'd choose Solidworks.
