well i just took both your gcode files and put them into s3d's print preview which shows print speeds and everything look just fine. speeds all look good. i dont know anything about slic3r but the s3d previewer will show exactly whats what. i would say download the correct firmware and flash the board. its a 5 min job and cant hurt.

I had the same problem, and it was a setting in Slic3r.

I'll try to look for the exact setting when I get home tonight.

Your gcode looks fine to me. Go to http://gcode.ws/, load up one of your files. Click on Layer Info and you can see what the speeds are for the various parts.

Note that your first layer is set for 30 mm/s; it is normal to have the first layer print slower than the rest to get better adhesion to the bed. The other layers are 40 mm/s.
To me, both these speeds seem very slow, suitable only if you're going for really great surface quality or using ninjaflex or something. I normally print PLA at 40 mm/s first layer, 80 mm/s for the rest. Check your slicer settings to change speeds.

Thanks for your help guys! I won't be able to see if it works yet because I'm undermining a small upgrade. Probably tommorow. Thanks again so far!

Can you post the output of an M503 command here? I wonder if some axis (like E) is set stupid slow on accident.

When you say super slow, what do you mean? Take a video.

For me, 30 mm/s is super slow. Have you tried telling your slicer to print it faster?

Check your slic3r settings for a frequency limit. When I had the slow printing problem it was because I'd somehow set the vibration limit to 4Hz or less.

It would be on the printer settings page.
