Zebra Plate
Re: Zebra Plate
People often say sharp knives are safer than a dull knife. While that's debatable as a universal proposition, I think it might well be true when it comes to things used to pry 3D prints. I have a paint scraper which I sharpened the bejeezus out of, and it slips fairly easily under prints. Easily enough that you can do it keeping both of your hands on the same side.
Re: Zebra Plate
Amen. I've hurt myself much worse with dull objects. But I've got the bed covered with Kapton - I'm afraid i'll cut it if I try to pry something off with a sharper blade.
(Let's see....could be something wrong with the logic here......Cut tape or cut self. And I choose cut self. Hmmmmn! )

Re: Zebra Plate
What are you bozos doing that requires chisels and crap to get your parts off the bed?
Jules you're using my ABS goop on Kapton aren't you

Re: Zebra Plate
Dude.....i haven't even printed ABS yet! ROFL! (Before you expire from shock, keep in mind, I'd just barely gotten into PETG before my computer decided to go wonky on me. I still plan to do so one day. And I do have a large bottle of the ABS goop on standby.)insta wrote:What are you bozos doing that requires chisels and crap to get your parts off the bed?

Too much hairspray and very round large surface area PLA prints that do not wish to be separated from their beloved bed, thank you! (Worse than trying to roust a teenager after a weekend of partying.)
Re: Zebra Plate
its funny that you mention chisels, one of the tools i use is a very sharp chisel, i put the beveled aged flat on the bed service, and tuck the sharp edge under the edge of a print, and then push down, prying the print up, works well. .. of course with that much leverage, if its really stuck to the kapton, somethings gonna give.

Re: Zebra Plate
temperature difference bed vs hbp
first abs print at the above temp - no warping.. it stuck to the plate very well
VERY VERY WELL
cant use acetone, they say scrape and sand the stuck print off.
next time i''ll stick to a surface temp of 50 as recommended for abs...M2 - MKS SBase w Smoothieware, GLCD, 24v, Upg Z & extruder stepper - IR bed leveling, Astrosyn dampers X/Y/Z, MIC 6, Zebra, PEI, & glass Build Plates - E3D, V3B Hotends, & more - many other 3d printers - production printing.
Re: Zebra Plate
Thanks ever so much for being the first to test it - that was a great break-down! I got mine late this evening (they really are fast) so I'll (maybe) give it a shot tomorrow if i can. Been so freaking busy!
(To get the last of the gunk off the plate - pick up a Magic Eraser at the grocery store next time you go. It's a micro-abrasive melamine sponge, and the little things are absolute miracles when slightly dampened.)
