Fan guards
Fan guards
I replaced my extruder and bed fan and just opted to not put the fan guards back on. I can now print any filament I have at at least 100 mms. For my setup petg used to be 50 mms. I think the increased airflow helps keep heat from creeping up the filament. I was seeing a lot of jams where the filament doubled over itself. PetG at that speed is awesome !!!
Re: Fan guards
Huh! (I wonder if I can keep from sticking something in there?)

Re: Fan guards
The best time to make "Fan Modifications" is midway through a 12 hour print btw. it's been proven by science.
Re: Fan guards
I replaced most of my fan guards with wire-metal ones, and all of my bed fans are guardless. I break fans just as frequently (and the filament drive fans always fail from bearings, not carelessness). Maybe that's why I've been successfully printing at 100-120mm/sec?PcS wrote:I replaced my extruder and bed fan and just opted to not put the fan guards back on. Re: Fan guards
Recommendations for wire fan guards?
Re: Fan guards
What fans are you guys replacing them with?
If the CFM is at least the same as the stock fans and they are quieter, that seems like a win all around.

Re: Fan guards
I just bought a bunch of 40mm wire guards off of Amazon, they were more or less sold by the pound.Jules wrote:Recommendations for wire fan guards?
I've got like 2 dozen ... how many do you want? :p
