Unlike the hairball I made out of the Thing-O-Matic, the M2 still looks kinda-sorta like an M2. Why the brass rod zip tied along the wires? Cut down on the flex?

Got it in one. The loom wanted to flex sharply at the back end of the trough, so I gave it some motivation to flex gently a bit further out.

Definitely no style points around here...

ed, i know you prob love your brass rod but i wanted to do the same thing to get some extra support for the loop. i found this. download and print it out. has a cable chain attachment to tywrap the wires to.

One of the two most effective mods I did to my other printer was to change to a 1/4" precision ground plate. The heater. Is directly attached and preheat time doubled but was worth it. I use it to almost excusivly print abs onto kapton. The reason this mod was done was to eliminate warping of the original thin Al HBP. it has been my workhorse.

I hear ya on that. I love tue plate. I have made these plates for a few guys here on the forum. Some like it, others dont. I personally think its great. I left the plate seperate from the heater though so i can pull the plate and swap out.

We are testing with a 1/4" cast aluminum build plate (rather than glass) to work with auto-level. The question we've been discussing is whether or not to have it be removable or not (heater attached directly) . Removable is convenient but adds complexity.

Feedback welcome...
