I expected it to be a job to make it work, but I never expected to have to machine a whole new adapter plate to make it work. After all, it is marketed as being for the m2. You can machine an adapter plate to make a Chevy carburetor work on a ford, but you don't see the auto part stores marketing them as Ford carburetors. I probably should have looked closer at the picture, and I should have done more research, but the marketing for this part is misleading.

I just read their current add under "m2" and I would agree, if they don't sent you all the aluminum adapter plates they show in the photo, id consider it a totally misleading ad. ... it will be very interesting to see what they ship you.
M2 - MKS SBase w Smoothieware, GLCD, 24v, Upg Z & extruder stepper - IR bed leveling, Astrosyn dampers X/Y/Z, MIC 6, Zebra, PEI, & glass Build Plates - E3D, V3B Hotends, & more - many other 3d printers - production printing.

What they shipped is just the extruder. I removed the old extruder to evaluate my options, and determined that a plate such as the one designed by yourself or sthone is the minimum amount of work needed, and more than I think it will be worth. Since there are no returns allowed , and I'm not likely to ship anything back to Israel anyway, I will just have to settle for ruining the guys perfect e-bay feedback record. To the OP I would answer yes. My situation proves that there is a market for a higher quality extruder and that market is not being satisfied.

Out of curiosity which ad are you guys looking at? The only auctions I see for this both list what you get is only the extruder.

I don't think ruining the guys feed back out of spite because you didn't read/fully understand the auction is right.

Have you contacted them to see if they will take it back?

It's not out of spite. It is a warning to others. His perfect feedback was largely what I based my decision to buy on. As for listing that it was "only the extruder" Of course I read that. I took it to mean that I would use the existing motor and gear. I also took "For makergear M2" to mean it is designed to bolt onto the Makergear M2, not that it is a generic extruder that can be made to work with your printer if you take the time to machine the non-existing part that will make it fit your Makergear M2. The fact is, it is no more "for the Makergear M2" than any other printer on the market. The process for making it work with a makerbot, a replicator, or any other 3d printer (I.E. designing and fabricating all the parts to Frankenstein them together) is exactly the same as for the M2. That is what is misleading.

Im thinking that situations like this are part of why a company that appears to have a pretty fantastic product, is hardly heard of, while e3d is everywhere

I just went back and looked, I got mine back in sept 2013. so a full 2 years ago....
for all their "engineering prowess" you would think by now the would have:

1. made a version that would mount directly to an m2 (trivial changes needed to the design)
2. updated it so it wouldn't jam on flexible filament (well known solutions these days, again relatively easy changes)

I didn't mind the extra work back in the day to retrofit it, I knew what I was getting into. Plus I was using it partially to figure out my m2 jamming problem (totally different kind of jam then the micron block had with flexible filament). I knew was on the bleeding edge of this as the block was new at the time. So when It didn't work well, I wasn't bothered...I just let them know the issues, and also posted my results as part of my m2 saga and moved on as It was part of diagnosing my lemon anyway ...

However...what micron is doing now though is not excusable... its one thing to maybe have a product with some flawes .. like the early e3d hotends, and then hone it, fix it revise it over time...but when you keep peddling the same item, with known issues, not trying to fix it, and then even try and deceive people as to what it works on... that's just inexcusable.

kind of reminds me of the snake oil type people on EBAY that sell 12v bilge fans as "electric turbochargers" for cars and so on. Just makes your skin crawl.
