They are rubber vibration dampeners that sit between your motor and the frame, intended to cut down on noise caused by vibrations.sprior wrote:What are stepper dampers?Farr0wn3d wrote:Honestly the best mod I've done to my M2 next to the hot end upgrade and stepper dampers.

I've never tried it, but it looks like a pretty cheap mod. I don't find the sound to be that bad on 3D printers, but on my CNC fabric cutter the vibrations can be obnoxious at certain lower frequencies-- to the point where it sounds like the machine jammed. It probably happens when the harmonics hit the resonant frequency of the metal framework.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Re: PEI Bed Surface
Installed PEI on my bed New Years Eve (I'm a party animal), just tried printing a pen case tonight out of PLA and the PLA stuck so strongly to the PEI and warped that it delaminated the PEI from the glass on both sides. Argh.
Re: PEI Bed Surface
sprior, was your bed heated for this?
Re: PEI Bed Surface
The bed was heated to 60C
Re: PEI Bed Surface
I'm unsure if PLA sticks to cold PEI or not, but if it does I think you would have less warpage with a cold bed and maybe less cooling fan. Thats just a thought though, I cant say I have much experience in your particular situation.
Re: PEI Bed Surface
If PLA did stick to cold PEI then it wouldn't release from the bed very well. Kazolar (who I work with in our day jobs) said I didn't get a good lamination between the PEI and the glass so it'll have to be redone. I was surprised at this PLA print warping becuase I didn't think PLA was supposed to WANT to warp that much - it must have put some serious pull on the PEI to pull it away from the glass. Happened to be Makergear brand filament which is pretty good.
Re: PEI Bed Surface
I've been following this thread and am just about sold on PEI. I'm thinking to buy the .030" from amazon, but am leery of using the adhesive tape based on what others have said previously in this thread. I really like the idea of using binder clips and would like to know if there is anything else I would need. Should I use adhesive and binder clips? Can I use the sheet of PEI and some binder clips with the stock glass or do I need to get an upgraded/different piece of glass? Any help is appreciated.
