Sweet Thanks, I must have missed that thread before... the roll should be here on Monday (gotta love that Amazon prime) I'm excited to give it a try on this extruder idea.

Updates to follow............ :D

Here's the lastest design... I changed a few things, added the filament tube holder, and I had to offset the fan mount as I couldn't find a screw long enough to mount it through everything and back to the original hole.

I printed it in the EPC using Jim's/Will's Profile and this stuff prints awesome. It does print just as easy as PLA and the supports break off really clean. I haven't printed anything with this version yet but running the EPC through it seemed to work fine so far. It didn't have a whole lot of bite marks on the EPC but that stuff is pretty hard and I'm still experimenting with the springs. I still need to make one more tweak to the bearing half so I'll try reprinting that tonight and see how things go.

Clean drawings! Good surfaces layout for printing and tidy fillets. I think you have done a little CAD before. What software are you working in?
I'm finally back to where I started two days ago!

A thread with some stuff in it I update every once in a while. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9

Thanks, I know just enough CAD to get me in trouble and doing projects like this is a great way to learn new stuff. :D This was actually done in a mixture of Onshape and then Solidworks. A majority of the cutting up/editing of the original drive files was done in Onshape and then I exported from there as SLDPRT files and then went back in and changed a few things in Solidworks. (if you look closely you can see the different shades of gray on the edited surfaces.) It's not the cleanest way to do things (the actual history of the work I did is a absolute mess) but I was working on two different computers as I can't use Onshape at home (crappy computer) and I don't have Solidworks on my work computer.

V4 Hinged 10.jpg
I did some final tweaks and reprinted the bearing half tonight and then ran some ABS through it and I'm getting some nice clean bite marks now.

I put the springs through the paces too by running some cleaning filament through it and shockingly the stuff feed without any problems... Overall I'd say this is a good sign. Usually with that stuff being so out of round/uneven It normally strips out after a bit and I have to force feed it through until it catches again. I need to run some longer prints to be sure but so far I'm calling this a success. :D

guys Jules knows what the cleaner filament is, she's amazed it fed properly.

I'm also pretty sure it's a polypropelyne or similar. It's definitely not Nylon.

I'm pretty sure it's overcooked pasta. (Has that consistency anyway.)
