Metal Extruder Motor Mount - availabile
Re: Metal Extruder Motor Mount - availabile
So now no excuse not to install the new metal mount I just received. Excellent.sthone wrote:Here you go... keep in mind the tolerances might be a little tight for the plugs cutouts so a bit of filing might be needed.

Sorry to hear that Tim. We can send you a replacement.
We are using a new mount that is similar to what you designed (except the wiring is completely shrouded). It does not look like the latest mount is on github. We'll get it posted today.

Yay! I also have no connectors in my box, the wires just run through it and everything just hangs around it. If I installed them as instructed, then it would make it difficult to check the filament drive without unhooking everything. I'm not quite sure how all my wiring would fit in the tiny box to start without being damaged or having to clip and reinstall all the connectors.rpollack wrote:Sorry to hear that Tim. Also, my wiring harness now drags on the back of the bed, since there is no wiring support like in the old mount.
The box must work better for new builds than retrofits. I haven't commented on it, because the metal part works great, and I figured someone would come out with improvements for the wiring harness.
I'm glad to see that it is being tweaked. This is what is so great about printed parts, improvements can happen quickly!
I'm finally back to where I started two days ago!

I had the same issue with the first wire box in that it was a pain to change hot ends often and quickly. I use PetG, nylon, ePC, ninja flex, etc. on a daily basis switching between them and came up with my own design with a "fastener-less" lid. Then after talking with tech support on some other items, they mentioned the new wire box shown here by Rick. I have been using this latest design for a month or so now, and it is very nice and well engineered. Great job Maker Gear in your quest for constant product improvement.

WHOA.... Whats that funky bearing in the filament drive that custom or is that something new too?

Re: Metal Extruder Motor Mount - availabile
I thought someone might notice that. I had issues with the ninja flex moving around on the drive gear and giving inconsistent extrusion, so I came up with the larger wheel (more contact area) with the circular cut to match the filament. This part presses over the existing bearing and required a redesigned filament drive to allow for the larger size. There are also internal changes to the filament drive to guide the flexible material and keep it on a straight and narrow path. This keeps the filament centered on the drive gear and directly over the hot end hole. The ninja flex has no where to go accept through the hot end upper hole now. It seemed to help when I had it on the V3B, so I continued using it on the V4.

Oh, no need. You know me. I got it soldered up just fine. Mostly I was just stating my reason why I thought the junction box needed a redesign.rpollack wrote:Sorry to hear that Tim. We can send you a replacement.
And there you go. . . a redesigned junction box. Just what I asked for!We are using a new mount that is similar to what you designed (except the wiring is completely shrouded). It does not look like the latest mount is on github. We'll get it posted today.
That was Steve's design, by the way, not mine.
