Dual extruder
Dual extruder
When can I buy a dual extruder?
Re: Dual extruder
Don't know a date, but saw a prototype at MG HQ today. Likey likey.

Re: Dual extruder
Dale, did you get a feel for the effective x-axis dimension with the dual extruders? I envy that you got to take a look at the prototype!
Re: Dual extruder
dave, rick posted a pic yesterday on the google group. not sure if you saw it. the hot ends do look very close together so i would imagine the X has not shrunk in size by too much. hard to tell though.
Re: Dual extruder
Thanks, Jim, I just searched for it. I've seen dual extruders that looked like they were designed as two full-sized extruders ganged together side-by-side. MG's design looks pretty compact. Re: Dual extruder
Can you post a link to the pic? I can't find it.

Those are both 50mm fans, so you can scale from there. There's a neat trick they did with the extruder motors, gears, and printed plastic parts, offsetting vertically, to get the extruders as close together as possible in the X (the motors are basically touching sides) while still keeping the nozzles at the same height. You'd have to see it --- I can't describe it. I do, however, want to buy it! And I don't even really have a need right now for dual extruders. But I'm thinking of something dual color, like H-P used to do with double-shot injection molding the legends on their calculator keys so they could never wear off. Same concept, different device.

Re: Dual extruder
I will get photos of the final version (or very close to the final version) posted in the next few days. in the photo that was posted in the google group - the vertical fan is 50mm and the lower, angled fan is 40mm (for reference). also, the v4 is all metal.
Re: Dual extruder
Here are some additional photos of the dual v4.
