Power outages and UPS

Post by mhandley » Mon Jun 16, 2014 5:28 pm

I live in one of the lightning capitols, Tampa.
I had a 12 hr print going and at 10 hours the power kicked off

I am going to get a UPS for future problems.
UPS calculator tells me that an APC 600 will keep me running for 20 minutes at 100 watts or 10 minutes at 200 watts

Most of my power outages are just a second or 2 and some are 5 -10 minutes.

Th UPS should keep the printer running for these short outages, right?

Thanks

Are you going to be running a PC off it too? If so, you'll probably need a bigger UPS.

Even if you aren't, that might be cutting it a bit fine. A 600VA UPS is only good for around 300W which is roughly what people here have measured the M2 taking at full load.

No PC, running off SD card so I should have at least 5 min even with HBP.
That will have to do for now.
It will cover most glitches and generally smooth out the power.

Thanks for your help.
