Favorite Print Surface?
Re: Favorite Print Surface?
My vote is for a 1.5mm sheet in addition to the borosilicate with 6 larger binder clips. I mostly print in PETG and similar materials and PEI has been amazing, and clipping it to the glass makes removal of the sheet and flexing the sheet to pop the part off a breeze. Nylon and TPE aren't suited to PEI but the glass works for those, (PVA on the glass for Nylon)

Made this Mic-6 plate today:
I use purple gluestick. Gluestick or certain types of hairspray are the way to go.
I am always surprised when I see people still using obsolete surfaces such as Kapton tape, painter's tape, ABS glue, etc.

I've been using PEI glued to the glass. Works well for PLA and ABS. After breaking the glass the other day, I stuck a build tak sheet on the replacement. It works too well. I'm having trouble getting PLA unstuck. Its back to PEI when I get a new piece of glass.
Re: Favorite Print Surface?
could just put a piece of electrical tape on the surface and take the temp of it, no?

Zebra Plate:
1) Good settings for ABS?
2) Mount on top of glass plate, or don't use glass plate?

It's a stand alone - no glass plate. (You will need to reset your Starting Height.)Lateralg wrote:Zebra Plate:

Re: Favorite Print Surface?
Having to put ANYTHING on your plate for adhesion is not the way to go. Gluestick, hairspray, ABS slurry... all of it adds two extra steps: putting it on and cleaning it off. Screw that-- just use PEI and be done with it. One plate does all, never have to muck it up with anything and it is indestructible.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Sounds good; I'm ready for something better.
What's your success rate with ABS?

I honestly can't get anything to stick on a consistent basis with PEI.
I primarily use my MIC-6 with hairspray, but would love to get away from the hairspray if I could by using PEI.
