I Broke My Glass Bed Plate, Where Can I Buy Another One?

Post by w22 » Fri Oct 21, 2016 12:57 pm

Would I get this or is this just the sticky tape?

I also saw a steel silver plate somewhere on Amazon where supposedly you don't have to use any tape. Can anyone find this on Amazon as I no longer can.

Also, to be specific, I just broke the glass plate, not the actual heating bed. I was trying to pry off a brand new print on a brand new BuildTak bed and it was stuck to hard and I was leaning against the counter and began to bend the glass plate. I heard cracking and thought it was the print coming off the bed so I kept going and then realized shards were scrating the counter and glass beneath the print. Oy.

The title and description state "for Maghold Print Platforms", but you don't have one of those.

It might work, it might not, but it certainly seems like the wrong hammer for the job. From what I've read around here, you can't expect an unconstrained spring-steel sheet to maintain accurate flatness / alignment with a heated platform.

Buy a replacement borosilicate glass sheet directly from Makergear, write it off as "experience", and move on.

Thank you! Will do! It looks like MakerGear has a set of 3 in clearance that have minor marks. No problem for me as long as it isn't already sharding!

In my experience, MakerGear's "used" or substandard gear is indistinguishable from their new stuff. That's not a negative for the new stuff, but rather a positive for the used gear. They won't let anything leave their warehouse that isn't in great shape.
