Borosilicate Glass broken :(

Post by morganfree » Fri Dec 16, 2016 4:35 pm

Hello! Yesterday I broke my only-unique-weird borosilicate glass that originally came with my M2... It actually kept one piece by the kapton tape, but it's completelly broken in the half. I even printed over it... but it's a little bit unleveled and insecured.

I've tried to find that kind of glass here in Brazil, but it's not available or at least it's not easy to find. Buying overseas will delay my prints at least a month...

I bought some PEI sheets some time ago, and they just came today! :(

Anyway I'm thinking that there should be some solution for my situation...

For PLA, I guess I can use normal glass with some kapton, since the glass won't go over 50C... that's the T° I'm using, with no problem at all of adhesion. Might be?

However for ABS... Since the T° for the bed is more than 110C... Should it work some tempered glass? Did anyone try with that?
Is there a way to use the PEI over other surface rather than the glass?

I need a solution for this situation ASAP or I'll have to declare my bankruptcy! hahahaha

Many thanks for your help!

Best regards!

I would not use regular glass.

There are many people that I have heard are using the PEI directly on the heated bed, clipped down with binder clips.

Not perfect, but might get you by.
