Using Windows
Using Windows
My friend let me use his printer I have a windows machine and tried the starter software that I downloaded from makergear website. My issue is that when i try to print thru the software It will not let me go pass the extruder temperature setting it say off the bed setting I was able to set, Is there anything I can do to get pass this I ran a gcode command to get the temp. reading and It was up to temp.
Re: Using Windows
Watch the video at the bottom of the page here and make sure you have connected and set up correctly.

Re: Using Windows
i am able to do all the calibration but when it's time to print the heating bed would go up to temperature but the extruder temperature will stay at zero.
Re: Using Windows
The bed heats up first, then the extruder starts to heat up. Are you waiting long enough? (It can take up to 15 minutes to finish running through the cycle depending on the temperature.)
(There's a reason for that, it keeps the hot nozzle from oozing plastic all over the plate before the print.)
If you're going to use your friend's machine, you need to read the Beginner's Guide for it: Make sure you read the one that corresponds to whichever version machine your friend has, either the older model, or the newer one purchased after March of 2016.

Re: Using Windows
Hello,
I just switched from a Mac to a Dell do I have to update my printer at all? I have only put the marlin program in it when I acquired the printer back in March 2015. That was with my mac I dl marlin.
Right now the 3D printer will not connect to simplified3D. I'm pretty sure it has to do with my Port and Baud rate. I switched the port to 3 and the printer would heat up and the jog controls will work. But when I try to print it tells me "Failed to connect to the machine. Have you selected the correct port and baud rate? Is your printer plugged in and turned on?"
My machine is on and plugged in.
Thank you

Re: Using Windows
Check that the baud rate is set to 115200 bits/sec. (On the G-Code tab in S3D.)
Re: Using Windows
The baud rate is at 115200. Do I need to update my printer for a dell or install a different marlin program? I installed Marlin only once on the printer when I got it in March 2015?
Thank you
Thank you
Re: Using Windows
Ahhhh! My apologies, i glossed over the switched from a Mac part.......as i recall, there was different firmware for Windows versus Mac, that might make a difference.
Make sure you are running the correct firmware for it - the newest firmware does not apply to machines purchased in 2015.

You want the Windows driver at the bottom of the page.

Re: Using Windows
I downloaded Arduino 1.8.1 program. Then I went to the link you told me and downloaded Rambo_USBdriver. I opened up Arduino and tried to open up the Rambo_USBdriver. It told me it can only open up its own sketches. Is there a new way of doing this or a video to show how to do it?
thanks
thanks
Re: Using Windows
You need to use an older version: 1.5.5. That's the tested and recommended version.Nofear202 wrote:I downloaded Arduino 1.8.1 program.
