Can you help make a large print? (Offset Problem)

Post by CCVirginia » Sat Feb 18, 2017 6:21 pm

I am supporting "First Robotics club" # 612 @ Chantilly High - North VA. I am making a large print for them but my printer has been having an issue with an "offset", it failed after 30 hrs.

So, I am asking if there is anyone who could start such a print. Requires 5.4"x, 7.5"y. 7.2"z. I have been printing in PetG. It takes about 40 hrs. We can supply filament but have no way to cover printer time costs.

Anyone who can help? Obviously it would be best if near the North-VA area.

As to the failure - I have had several prints "offset" in the x, y, or x&y directions. All the belts and screws are tight. I have tried it from the computer, OctoPrint & the Card - all failed sometimes. I have been in contact with Makegeqar support. I slowed it down and thought the troubles were over, but it happened again. This time it happened in "X", about 1/2 inch. It then continues to print offset so the printer has forgot where it is.

What's the print? I can run it on my M2 in black or yellow PETG, but I'm in Houston. You're probably not going to get it before Bag Day on Wednesday, so it'll have to be part of the withholding allowance. But if there isn't anyone more local to help you, I could do it. Have you or the team posted a request on ChiefDelphi? I'm sure there's someone on there that'd be able to help.

What are you printing on? Is the print surface moving around?

Also check the belt fitment to the belt clamp that rides on the X axis.

Without seeing the part, I would actually guess that there's overhangs that are curling up and they eventually curl enough to catch the print head and make the steppers skip. Unless you have terrible adhesion, a part with that footprint is going to jam the steppers before it moves on the build plate.
