Layers off centered & weirdness

Post by pinkstond » Sat Dec 29, 2018 10:31 pm

I've been using simplify3d and the Makergear M2 for years now. Just all of the sudden it started this random weirdness with the layers being out of alignment... The first later usually looks fine, and then onto the second layer it will be off by about 1/4". I've updated firmware, cleaned everything, made sure everything was tight, updated the software, tried a different USB port and I can not for the life of me figure out what's causing this.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

If you upgraded to 4.1.1 revert to 4.0.1.
Other than that a loose class bed would do it but I see you have binder clips so that is not it..
Sorry can't be of more help

If it's always in one direction, I'd suspect an intermittent connection to the drive motor.

I was previously running 4.0.1 when the issues started. I updated to the latest to see if that would fix the issue. Seemed to carry over.

Update:

When the motors were engaged I noticed there was a little bit of give. I didn't think this was normal, so I looked into it a bit further. The problem ended up being the belt pulley(is that what that part is called?) that were attached to the motors were lose. Re-tightened them and it started printing as normal.
