Lots of play on M2 legacy build plate- bad carriage block?

Post by helix_3 » Tue Jun 16, 2020 9:07 pm

I have a M2 with lots of hours on it. The bed has a good ~1mm of play at the corners, and I'm getting inconsistencies on the walls of my prints.

The black bed holder is firmly screwed into the silver support underneath, the silver support is firmly screwed to the block, and the belts are properly tensioned, so it seems like the carriage block is the source of the slack. Does this seem logical?

The bearing is 12 mm wide and the platform is 200 mm across, so 1 mm on the edge means something less than 0.1 mm at the bearing race. You should be able to feel that if you put your finger across the traveling block and the rail: if that gap wiggles, then it's worn out.

Mine has just barely noticeable play at the edge and just barely perceptible wiggle at the block, if that's any help.

There aren't any adjustments, so when they're worn, they're finished.
