I've tried wiping it with denatured alcohol, didn't help. I took the BuildTak and metal plate off the printer today and readjusted Z home. I doubt it'll ever end up back on the printer.

yes bonding was too strong the first couple prints as they were destroyed trying to get them off then it died down a little to where it was ok. i wiped the plate down with alcohol to clean it and as soon as i did that it might as well been wax. i never again could get anything to even remotely bond to it.

Interesting variation in results. The only difference I've seen is that I'm using isopropyl and others have mentioned denatured alcohol. The thought that comes to mind is that isopropyl is only alcohol and water, whereas the denatured alcohol is ethanol with additives that can include isopropyl, methanol, denatonium, methyl isobutyl ketone, and/or acetone. The ethanol wouldn't pose a problem, but I can't say what affect the other additives would have on the surface of the buildtak.

I'm not defending this approach or trying to sell it. It works for me, but may not for anyone else. I know I tried the other suggestions of tapes, gluesticks, and sprays that others here have had great success with and none worked well for me, so this is my method that I shared for others to try if they wanted.

I'll be glad when there is finally a method out there that is foolproof for everyone across all materials.
