Hello all,
I have printed short <1 hours runs and longers 10+ hours runs with great success due to the help of this community. Recently, after a few hours of printing, the filament get stuck and the system fails and stop. At this point, I have concluded that the filament get stuck and not extruding anything.
When I retracted it, cut a new end on a fresh piece of filament and feed it back in... presto it extrudes fine.
I haven't open up the assembly to clean it out, but it prints short (less than 2 hours) runs fine, so I don't think there is anything stuck in it...
Maybe the roll has some tight spots where it is hard to pull the filament? I am getting to the end of the roll... but when I pull the filament to test, it seems to pull without much trouble...
Some specs I'm using
I am using ABS running at 240 degrees in the software
24V 0.5mm extruder head
thanks,
Mike

Re: Filament stuck
could have just been a bulge in the filament or the dia got too high to pass through the extruder......it happens

Re: Filament stuck
Makergear... no 3rd party filament...
Re: Filament stuck
Have you been using ABS only? I used to get a lot of jams on the V3 (they stopped happening on the V3b in retrospect...) switching between ABS and PLA. The process of switching would create a hard goo in the nozzle that solidified like cement and plugged it up something fierce.

Re: Filament stuck
Hi,
Only been using ABS on the V3B extruder. I'm going to clean the nozzle out tonight... I heard maybe acetone bath, but more so a blow torch will remove clogs...

Re: Filament stuck
No torch. If only abs has been in it then soak for a few hours or overnight in acetone. Soak the nizzle and brass tube. Thats the area that will get tight.
