Re: distortion
Double-click on the model, and change the "Rotational Offsets" on the right. (When you're done, click 'Center and Arrange.')

Re: distortion
What is an appropriate infill? 75%
Also, can I do this on the FAST print setting or should I use a medium?

Re: distortion
Depends on how strong you want your part to be, does it need to put up with some stress or are you just interested in the surface shape? 75% is nearly solid. I have my infills set to 15% for fast, 30% will slightly decrease the likelihood of the top surface being marred by falling in, although I find 3 top solid layers is enough at 0.20mm to survive very low infills. I wouldn't go much below 15%, although I think MakerBot printers are set to extremely low default infills and they seem to work okay. 50-95% will give you strong structural parts, I don't like to go all the way to 100% because any error in extrusion calibration may give you an overstuffed object and cause printing issues.
Oh, you meant, for this extruder mount. Then yeah, 75% is a good number.

Ed, looks like Jin is the "winner" this time... out-diagnosed both of us! And, Jin, I believe 75% is what I've heard from others. imsmooth, you can't go wrong with Jin's advice on this one. Hope it holds together till you get a good mount printed.jsc wrote:If your X carriage is looking good, check your extruder and mount. Is it mounted solidly, can you rotate it by hand at all off of vertical? Check your extruder mount for cracks.
Re: distortion
Well, the superglue held enough to give me a reasonable motor mount. It was a little off, but good enough. I then used this one that was able to at least get a good grip on the motor to print a perfect mount. I'm good now. I'll try it out tomorrow.
I figure I should print spare parts for my M2. I would need the extruder hot end mount, too. Anyone know where on thingiverse I can get this part? I'd like to print it as a spare in case...
Thanks for the help.

Re: distortion
eburt (who did that motor mount) has a filament drive as well, based off of rsilvers' model: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:433292
