I am printing some flowers with a very small area of adhesion on the plate. They are breaking loose sometimes when I print to the PEI on the MIC6 plate. I am using 220 C for the hotend and 70 C for the bed.
I was wondering if a little hairspray or glue stick glue would harm the pei. As I recall, insta called it virtually indestructible.
MIC6/PEI - Can I Use Gluestick or Hairspray
Re: MIC6/PEI - Can I Use Gluestick or Hairspray
PEI is very resistant to solvents, so glue stick and hair spray will not hurt it. If you have never read much about the various types of plastic, I would encourage you to start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyetherimide and pursue the links.CCRN wrote:I was wondering if a little hairspray or glue stick glue would harm the pei. There is lots of information out there, including chemical compatibility charts: http://www.plasticsintl.com/plastics_ch ... chart.html
This one includes metals, such as your Mic6 plate: https://www.coleparmer.com/Chemical-Resistance

I wouldn't add additional adhesives to the PEI, I'd figure out what to do for your part to make it stick better.CCRN wrote:I am printing some flowers with a very small area of adhesion on the plate. Most of the PEI I sent out was not scuffed. You can add scuff with a green scrubby, then wipe clean with rubbing alcohol.
Can you post the STL? Maybe better orientation or a raft/brim would help.

I used a damp magic eraser and will give it a try again. Seems like the adhesion problems have gone away.
Here is the STL of the flower.

With that part, I would suggest just sinking it 1mm into the bed, and adding a brim.
