Re: Jittery temps
I got my (2) replacement thermistors, and everything's working again. Just out of curiosity: there's no set screw for the thermistor, it just sits in its hole on the v4 hot end?

Jittery temps
I'm getting my first temp issues after many years. One of my extruders exhibits jittery temps when heating up and cooling down, spikes of several degrees up and down. I'm guessing this is an incipient thermistor failure? What else might it be? Oh, and look at that, I just received "Error: 1: Extrude...

Decoupage decals
Trying out a new-to-me technique for getting graphics on a print. Printed out the graphic on an inkjet printer sized to the circumference length of the curved section with an oversized center cutout for the dome. I should have taken a little more care making sure to cut out all of the line marking t...

Re: World Maker Faire
I decided last minute to go on Sunday because my daughter wanted to go back to that "place with the big golf ball (the Unisphere that had all the crafts." I didn't make it to the 3D Printer Village, although now I wish I had to score some of those filament samples. The two interesting 3D printing re...

Helicone
I saw some online videos of an "interactive sculpture" (executive desk toy) called a Helicone, and decided I wanted to try to make one. It turned out great! The brown parts are because I ran out of black and had to reprint two slices that broke. On an unrelated note, if you leave eSun PLA+ out for m...

Epoxy coating a fidget spinner
I've been playing around some more lately with epoxy coating. I bought a cheap milligram scale on Amazon and found that it worked great for dosing out XTC-3D (100:42 by weight) in the tiny amounts needed to coat small objects. I decided to try coating a fidget spinner design. But how to keep it from...

Re: S3D nameplate Lettering Issue
Try running an extrusion calibration square (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1964) if you have calipers. It will be quick and give you as good a number as you can get without tons of experimentation.

Re: Best modeling software for my business
Fusion and OnShape are both excellent, but licensing may be an issue. For Fusion, if you make more than $100,000 commercially with it, you need to subscribe. OnShape lets you use it for free as long as all your designs are public, which may or may not be an issue for you. Blender is a bit of a beast...

Re: Bridging Quality has gotten really bad
I know people have differing bridging theories, but what I found worked for me after several tests is to decrease the extrusion multiplier slightly, to keep the bridge taut (80-90%), and drastically decrease bridging speed, 25% or so. There is no reason bridging needs to be fast, it will happen, and...
