Re: y axis slipping?

I'm getting skips/slips on the X axis only, and only for moves. I've tried slowing down moves from 300mm/s to 200mm/s, without success. So I've been greasing and debugging and trying various things, and now I think there may be an issue with my X carriage, or at least the bearings in the X carriage....

Re: M2 Slic3r settings

I actually have the V3a hotend: http://makergear.wikidot.com/m2-extruder#toc1 With the V3b hotend it was necessary to increase the temperature settings about 20 degrees to get the same results. Not sure if the same applies to V4, the wiki isn't updated with that info. But experiment with a small pri...

Re: M2 Slic3r settings

I'd say you need to tune your retraction settings before printing something big like that. I've not primarily printed objects like that, but have tried to collect some decent generic settings. Work with something small with lots of retraction until you get it nicely tuned, like this pyramid: http://...

Re: PCL flexible filament?

Never mind, turns out it's not really flexible (as in ninjaflex), it just gets soft at lower temperatures and is easy to reshape with hot water. Surely nice, but not what I was looking for.

PCL flexible filament?

Hi,

Has anyone tried makerbot PCL flexible filament? It's very expensive, but I've come across a good offer. :) I've been eager to try flexible filaments for a while.

Re: Slic3r

I see this is an old post, but if you're still wondering, I'd go with the latest slic3r. I use 1.2.0 (or dev versions from the git repo), but you can also use 1.1.7 stable. I use slic3r with my M2.

Re: Call for sample prints

There are some really nice gliders available on thingiverse by the user "exosequitur". I haven't tried this one, but earlier versions of the Stratos glider were very cool!

Re: How to get a smooth finish on a PLA printed part

Someone suggested that I sand plastic with wet paper and submerge the part in water while sanding, to avoid fine plastic dust in the air you are breathing. I have no idea how important this is, so it sounded sensible to me at the time, and that is what I've done the few times I've tried.

Re: Tuning Hot End PID

Hey Tim, This should work: Check out my Marlin repo: git clone https://github.com/kefir-/Marlin.git List the branches, including remote ones: git branch -l -a You should see one listed as "remotes/origin/MakerGearM2-original-fw". Get that branch: git checkout MakerGearM2-original-fw From there on yo...

Re: M2 Slic3r settings

For me the biggest improvement was that the default logic has been changed to complete each "island" individually, rather than doing all the individual perimeters first, followed by all the individual infills later. To summarize roughly, I think there has been lots of bugfixing, in addition to good ...
