Re: Good Filament/Bad Filament in one

Not sure where to post this question, so thought I'd start with my own thread. Its similar to the original question. If I print something with a base that's 20% of the build plate surface, its a successful print, with very little to no warpage. But if I print a single large object that is more than ...

Re: PEI Bed Surface

Not sure who exactly recommended using a high grit number sandpaper, but wanted to thank that person, and provide some positive feedback. In an act of desperation, i had shot some hairspray on my zebra plate, and the surface lost all adhesion, esp. for PLA. Thought I'd ruined it. I took some 600 gri...

Re: How To: Calibrate the Z-Offset

So there's no confusion, I have a Rev D machine with a V4 extruder. I saw the posting that strongly recommended running calibration squares & adjust parameters on every filament change. (I am only printing PLA right now.) Which I have been doing. And its been quite interesting. Changing the extrusio...

Good Filament/Bad Filament in one

I am currently printing with a red PLA filament that has exhibited great behavior on one project, and very bad behavior on another. Wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of Jeckll and Hyde behavior, and what was the solution? The successful project, I printed a number of objects (geared heart ...

Re: M2 Extruder stepper motor not turning

BTW, if you do order a new "Extruder Motor" w/ or w/o the Drive Gear from MakerGear, even if you're frustrated with the old one, do NOT throw out the old one in its entirety. The machine screws that come with the new one are only long enough to attach the planetary gear box to the stepper motor. You...

Re: Prints will not stop from warping

Step 2: Check the wires and make sure one of the connectors hasn't gotten pulled loose. Definitely check the connection of the wiring bundle from the power supply going into the M2. I had an extruder clog, and upon successfully getting the extruder to run, the X, Y, & Z jog controls did not. I had ...

Re: M2 Extruder stepper motor not turning

I am always appreciative of the information that I can get from this website for help with my using my M2. I have the same problem. And it showed up in a very confusing manner. My last print completed perfectly. I went to start the next print, and with the heaters on, tried to extrude some pre-print...

Z-stop and Extruder Gremlins

Just curious if anyone else has seen some of the general weirdness I've been seeing the last couple of days. Had, yet another, extruder jam. So I cleared the jam, no problem. I had a spare nozzle, though to be fully "transparent", it was a used nozzle from a different but same rev. extruder (V4), an...

Re: Buying today - Which Filaments to Start

I had a stunning experience with Hatchbox Silver PLA. Ridiculous amounts of warp for any print that had a linear dimension more than 50% of the print bed, e.g more than half the width of the glass. And my solution to printing with HB Silver PLA was to "stand up" my parts so they had a reasonable bas...

Re: Printing lighter color PLA

On more comment. I had heard good things about eSun PLA+, so I ordered some from amazon. Alas, the "silver" color is different between the two. The HB is darker, and has an inherent shine to it. The eSun is lighter and the untouched/unpolished print has a flat finish. OTOH, the eSun silver PLA+ stic...
