Re: BLTouch Auto Leveling Sensor

Z_HOME_BUMP_MM in Configuration_adv.h Marlin apparently uses the same value for all Z-axis moves, whether they're homing or bed probing. Oh man . . . thank you for this. I was having the same issue where the z-axis wouldn't retract all the way down before the second (slow) probe occurred. Everythin...

Re: printing two copies at the same time with dual extruders

If you don't mind taking on a moderately insane modification, there's Tim's twin extruder mod: http://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2963&hilit=twin+extruder At the least, I think he's gotten it printing two copies at the same time, so he probably knows the S3D tricks to do it. I can't rec...

Re: Extruder Zig-Zag

If it's not extruding too fast or too cold, maybe an obstruction in the nozzle? People have pulled metal fragments and such out of their nozzles before. In that case your options are a cold pull with nylon or similar, or perhaps pulling the nozzle off and dissolving or burning the plastic out, then ...

Re: incorrect z homing behavior with octopi

I have a contrary opinion. It sounds very much like the z motor isn't running a homing command, just doing a move and running into the bottom of the z axis. 3 to 4mm sounds very much like the home offset for a printer with a mic 6 plate. By default the limit switches are disabled during normal opera...

Re: Yet another 3dhubs win this year

I also noticed it was missing from this year's Make magazine roundup, probably because it's not a "new" printer. You guys should really just arbitrarily up the version number every year instead of using "revisions" just so people realize it's not standing still year to year. I noticed this as well,...

Re: Watertight Vases - Are they possible

Flowrate in that case, yes. I'd guess getting it timed right through octoprint will be a bit trickier, though. You could set up a pause after the last bottom layer, but you'd get a little ooze.

Re: Watertight Vases - Are they possible

If it's just the bottom that's leaking, maybe you could try over extruding somewhat while you're printing the bottoms layers. In Simplify3D, you'd go to the printer controls and crank up the extrusion dial to 110% or something while you're printing the bottom, then knock it back down to 100% for the...

Re: Notes from a Kit Build

Rick, That was my first attempt, plus twisting the motor in the metal motor mount. Then I loosened the screws on the back of the gearbox as well, but it still didn't move much. I don't think the screws on the back could help at all, since those holes were drilled and not truly counterbored. The scre...

Notes from a Kit Build

Got my kit late last week and put it together Saturday evening. I'd say it was 4-5 hours of assembly, but 1-2 was dealing with one issue I'll outline below. I did have an advantage in that I'd previously assembled one of the old kits where you had to actually install the X rail yourself, align the v...
