PLA will never have the heat resistance that other plastics have. People like PLA because it prints so fast and easily at a low temp. It is great for draft work and toys. But these qualities make it more susceptible to heat issues. I believe the best progress you could make is to increase it's glass temperature (which starts at like 120F) but maintain the melting temp.

For another, I tried to print with PETG on my Afinia printer. It has settings for PLA and ABS. The PLA setting was too cool, and the extrusion was too slow. The ABS setting was too hot and the filament came out almost burnt. (PETG works great in my new M2, though.)
