Hello,
My office has an M3-ID running octoprint in a small room near out engineering department. This is fine for printing, but can be a a pain for maintenance. We typically have to run back and forth from our desk to the printer to load filament, calibrate the z-axis, etc. We have a couple of shared laptops, and if one is available we can use that, but I'd like a more permanent solution that does require a full laptop or pc to just run a web browser.
Ideally would like to add a small touch screen and TouchUI control to the printer to make maintenance easier. I've seen lots of post about how to add a Pi, octoprint, and a small touch screen like a PiTFT to a printer to add touch screen control, like this: http://projectable.me/raspberry-pi-tou ... ontroller/, but i can't find instructions for adding just the touchscreen to an existing M3-ID.
Does anyone know of a guide or instructable for doing this? Has anyone done this with an M3-ID?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Adding touch screen control to the M3-ID
Re: Adding touch screen control to the M3-ID
I've been using Octoprint + TouchUI on my phone and it works just fine.
The phone doesn't know about Bonjour / Avahi addressing, so I must use octopi's dotted-quad IP address instead of octopi.local. The printer has a fixed IP address, so a bookmark suffices.
As nearly as I can tell, adding hardware directly to a printer just begs for trouble …
