Early M2 Safety Advisory

Post by rpollack » Wed Jun 11, 2014 5:30 pm

This message only applies to M2s (probably limited to certain machines manufactured in 2012) that have RAMBo electronics with the yellow PTC overcurrent protection device (see photos). The yellow PTC device is soldered directly to the PCB. If your M2 has an automotive-style replaceable fuse then this advisory does not apply to your machine.

If you have the yellow PTC device then disconnect the 12v power supply (Dell brick) from your machine and contact us to arrange to have your electronics replaced. The yellow PTC device can ignite if there is a voltage surge.

Do not use the heated bed until the electronics have been repaired/replaced. This would also be a good time to retro-fit your machine to operate on a single 24V power supply (contact us for details).

We will attempt to contact early M2 owners directly. If you have an early machine with the yellow PTC device or you have any questions, please contact us at support@makergear.com.

Thank you,
Rick
