x axis belt rubbing.
x axis belt rubbing.
Does anyone have this issue on there M2. it doesn't hinder printing but I would think overtime it would ruin the belt.

Re: x axis belt rubbing.
mine is close like that but doesnt rub. is the pulley on the stepper up a little too high? just lower the pulley on the shaft just a hair. the belt should just mis by maybe the thickness of a business card..if that.
Re: x axis belt rubbing.
the problem i see is the belt clamp doesnt allow the belt to sit lower, so even if i lower the pulley it rubs elsewhere (flange of the pulley)..I noticed it during assembly.jimc wrote:mine is close like that but doesnt rub. is the pulley on the stepper up a little too high? just lower the pulley on the shaft just a hair. the belt should just mis by maybe the thickness of a business card..if that.
i want to print another belt clamp that has a deeper groove so the belt will move down a little more. does anyone have a cad file for it? so i can modify it.
or maybe put some small spacers washer between the belt clamp and the x axis mount.. so the whole clamp sits down a little further..

Re: x axis belt rubbing.
I spaced my belt holder down and dropped the pulley on the motor. This makes the belt just miss. I checked the github site and there doesn't seem to be a printable belt holder there. At least not the same part that came with the printer.

did you use washers?cmenard wrote:I spaced my belt holder down and dropped the pulley on the motor. This makes the belt just miss. I checked the github site and there doesn't seem to be a printable belt holder there. At least not the same part that came with the printer.
Re: x axis belt rubbing.
hmmm my belt just touches like yours does on in the clamp but still just misses on the back side. is it actually rubbing with enough force that you can hear it making noise or anything like that? if you think it will continue to rub and wear a bunch of the belt away then put a washer under each bolt. just for reference i have 3/32" of motor shaft sticking up above the pulley.
Re: x axis belt rubbing.
I had the belt pulley positioned as the manual states 2.5mm for the x axis stepper but that didn't work right (it was rubbing badly at this position) so i moved it down a little further right now it sits a 3.65mm.
I think i'll just add some spacers to the belt clamp.

Re: x axis belt rubbing.
I used a piece of .025" lexan for the spacer. My belt had rubbed and discolored before I caught on to the problem.kosal850 wrote:did you use washers?cmenard wrote:I spaced my belt holder down and dropped the pulley on the motor. Re: x axis belt rubbing.
in your second pic, is that a crack in your motor mount? little white line at the front corner of the motor? print yourself a spare just to have one on hand
