Ringing?

Post by bill_i_am » Tue Oct 05, 2021 12:09 am

Hi, my last print looked really poor (attached). The part was printed with the right edge of the image on the bed. I suppose this is ringing? The profile is one I've been using for a while after some many tweaks (speed 4200 fyi). Slicer Simplify3D. Everything feels tight, but the machine seems noisier. I feel the noisiness started after a Rambo replacement in April, but this is rather subjective. This machine is a rescue from about 3 years ago. Now it is a hobbyist machine and is lightly used. I'm hoping the 'forum' could look at the images and suggest areas I should research.

I had ringing problems after a couple years when my belts had stretched/loosened. Tightening them definitely improved things a lot.

I think this is your problem X20 for max jerk may be causing some of you issues.
This what my m2 is set too.
Recv: echo:Advanced variables: S=Min feedrate (mm/s), T=Min travel feedrate (mm/s), B=minimum segment time (ms), X=maximum XY jerk (mm/s), Z=maximum Z jerk (mm/s), E=maximum E jerk (mm/s)
Recv: echo: M205 S0.00 T0.00 B20000 X4.00 Z0.40 E1.00

Max feed rates seem high but not sure that would matter as they are max
Recv: echo:Maximum feedrates (mm/s):
Recv: echo: M203 X200.00 Y200.00 Z25.00 E25.00

If that doesn't fix it look of something loose or binding that would cause vibration.

Thank you! I am on it! Well I will be on it after I put out a desk fire this morning. (:- )

In case anyone is wondering... the desk fire turned into a 4-alarm. Back at it, I discovered the V4 filament drive exploded. More on the ringing after I get this fixed.

In case anyone wonders... the lower jerk setting did quiet down the machine. Still some ringing, but I discovered an additional problem which I will open in a new post as it seems worthy of its own topic.

Thanks all for the insights!
