Motherboard Fan?

Post by Gwhite » Wed Sep 01, 2021 3:22 am

I just noticed that the motherboard fan on my 4 year old M2E isn't running. Is this thermostatically controlled, or has my fan died? I did a quick search, but came up empty.

I decided to give it a push, and it rev'd right up. I think I need a new fan...

Or you have some filament tangled around it.. happens a couple time a year to me.. couple screws and the cover comes off. While you are in there (power disconnected), check all the screw terminals connections and make sure they are tight. With heat/cool cycles the can work loose..

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems to be running OK now once it got nudged, but I have a spare on the way. I recall seeing a note someplace that the extruder fan & the motherboard fan are in parallel, so they should both run whenever the hotend is over 50C. I'm keeping an eye on it until I have some down time to open things up.

I've always been nervous that the starting wipe location MakerGear chose is just about right over the fan. I haven't seen anything get caught, but it's definitely possible.
