this machine does not support plaintext .gcode

Hullo!
I'm trying to print up components to help make masks for COVID-19 frontline workers and haven't fired up my M2 in over a year. My old laptop with Simplify 3D died so I installed it on another, loaded up a model and I get this error:
this machine does not support plaintext .gcode
I even tried this with models I have printed before but to no avail.
Can anyone help or or suggest workarounds?
