trouble printing multiple copies of a single item

Post by sherbs » Thu Dec 31, 2020 5:47 pm

Hi Folks,

Makergear M3-SE
Makergear PLA (black - provided with the printer)
Nozzle 220C
Bed 70C
S3D for slicing
I've been trying to figure this out for some time now...

I'm new to 3d printing and am able to get a single small part to print pretty much exactly as I'd like. However, when laying out multiple copies of this part on the print bed, I'm getting considerable warping over the first few mm of my print. Looks a bit like elephants foot - the bottom few mm of the print have enough shrink that the print is out of tolerance and just generally looks awful

I've tried various combinations of bed heating and fan settings but so far haven't had a great deal of success. I've also tried rafts, brims etc...

Reading up online I found that this can sometimes be due to a bed that is too hot. Testing today with 0C and 40C beds - the 0C bed (with rafts) failed completely... 40C with rafts is in progress..

Any tips would be appreciated. I'll have a need to print multiple small parts fairly often so getting this to work properly is important.

Thanks!
