New member of the MakerGear family...
Hello everyone,
I'd like to say hello and note that I am joining the group of those who went with the MakerGear M2 for their home 3D printer needs. Just ordered it mere minutes ago and will be (impatiently) waiting the next 2-3 weeks (approximate) (assembled variant, even though I''d believe am mechanically inclined). Also tossed in Simplify3D.
I've selected MakerGear for two different reasons. 1) I had my sights on this unit already due to the quality product provided and the great community forum I've been sifting through for the past 2 weeks, not to mention great reviews. I doubt I made a mistake even just based on this. 2) If it wasn't enough that I already was focused on MakerGear, they are located 30 minutes from where I live! How could I not support a local company? At this point it just seemed obvious, thus I pulled the trigger.
A bit of background on myself, I'm 27 and work as an electronics engineer. I have a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering. I like to tinker with electrical and mechanical doodads in my spare time. So I am quite anxious on this purchase, as one could expect. I had considered attempting a DIY 3D printer, but in reality, that is what half of them out there are, except they're being sold, and are unreliable. I figure this is a much better option, leaving me time to actually screw with the printer and use it towards my own gadgets. I'll just have to brush up on my modeling skills in the mean time, it's been a while.
Looking forward to the local pick-up.

Welcome DarkPrince!
(Chuckle! It had to be done!)
You're gonna love your new toy, it's a fantastic choice, and how lucky that you are close enough to actually get to meet the MG crew.

Oh Dark One,
Welcome to the fun! I'm in the Cleveland area also. Rick has been know to hold a little get-together at the MG shop for local M2 owners, although I haven't seen note of any such event recently. (They're pretty busy building M2s...) Maybe if we offer to bring the munchies and soft drinks. I could pick up a cheapie grill and some charcoal.

Re: New member of the MakerGear family...
Thanks everyone! Looks like the time frame is significantly less than expected... I just received order notice of the printer being ready for pick-up. Unexpected! Would have headed out this afternoon but the work emergencies take priority. Tomorrow i'll head out early afternoon. Thought I had two more weeks to work out a potential alternative to SolidWorks, which how long i'll have access is of question. Cubify Design is in my look into list, and still hunting for other alternates.
Dale, Lem
I'd be happy to fork in for drinks/chips/etc.

Should I be concerned that the Dark Prince is coming to the shop?
Perhaps we should wear turtlenecks tomorrow!
