Extruder Aggressively Backing Out/Retracting Filament, Help!

Post by alexneems » Wed Jun 17, 2015 8:12 am

At a certain point in every layer, the extruder reverses the filament out 2.5 cm, then continues to print even though no material is being extruded. Also makes unpleasant noises. Used Slicer experimental version to generate g-code. Looking through the G-code there are some weird moments, namely, during each layer there is a reset like so:

G1 X32.303 Y6.675 E2.92199

; 135.693497 106.675000 2.700000

; GCodePlater: Model 0 Layer 11 at Z = 3.0

G90

G92 X32.30300 Y6.67500 Z2.70000

G92 E97.04334

G1 Z3.000 F7800.000

G1 X33.751 Y4.929 F7800.000

G1 X33.751 Y4.033 E2.99508 F900.000

Don't know if g code is normal, but the noises and printing with no filament don't seem normal.

Retraction for ooze control is set way too fast and retraction distance is too far. Flament retracts right out of extruder. Look at layer change retraction settings. Safe speed and distance 30mms 1.80mm.

Thanks. I had that thought as well, so I (or so I thought) disabled retraction. Must not have worked, glad to know for sure that it's bad retraction settings.
