Testers Needed
Re: Testers Needed
Agh, I'm dying for pictures!
Re: Testers Needed
Oooh, hopefully I get one of those extras.
Does the new leveling kit make it easier to maintain level? Ever since I've put my printer in my office, I have other people handling my prints and some are not so careful on removing prints. If the prints are stuck, and they have to finagle the piece and push down on the bed while prying up, it can cause the bed to become unlevel due to the springs not resetting back all the way.

Re: Testers Needed
NEVER pry prints off the glass without removing it from the printer first. I had a bad habit of doing this and over time I pretty much ruined the rail block on my Y rail.

Sweetnessrpollack wrote:Are you asking about the metal motor mount?
If so, we should have an upgrade kit available late next week. It will include the metal bracket, a new extruder harness because of different wire lengths, the newer 24v fans, and the printed housing.
If you just want the metal bracket (and not the other items listed above) we are going to make that available on a hidden page. That will be a DIY upgrade meaning that you know what you are doing and will figure out how to get everything mounted (and not depend on MG support). You'll need to take the harness apart to change wire lengths. It is not very difficult.

Okay, I tell the guys to put away the sledgehammer. Interestingly, the girls are rougher than the guys.......sthone wrote:NEVER pry prints off the glass without removing it from the printer first. I had a bad habit of doing this and over time I pretty much ruined the rail block on my Y rail.

And this surprises you?Quark wrote:......Interestingly, the girls are rougher than the guys.......

but, I did have to re-level the bed a bit after that handling.

Re: Testers Needed
I haven't gotten to the kit yet (it's probably sitting in my mailbox), but do you have an order of magnitude for the upgrade cost at retail? This is a lot more extensive than I thought it was.rpollack wrote:We made some extras of the new leveling system and can accommodate most of your requests. I'll let you know next week if you requested one but we did not have enough. They'll be shipping any day. We will also be including a new z endstop that mounts on the bottom of the printer. You will see how all of this works in the instructions. You'll use the new app to set the z offset (with the switch at the bottom). If you prefer to keep your endstop at the top, you'll need to figure it out as it is not compatible with the new mechanism.
Also, please do not post photos of the new setup. You can post your feedback but please no photos. I don't care if you share photos in the M2 community behind the scenes...just don't want them posted at this time.
I hope you like it,
Rick

Re: Testers Needed
I'm curious what this new app you're talking about is, and whether it needs to be used all the time and what operating systems it runs on.
Re: Testers Needed
Insta - The parts are sitting on a table waiting to be shipped. They should go out tomorrow. No info on retail pricing yet.
sprior - we posted earlier versions of the app on the forum to get feedback. The app is for getting started with a new machine - installing the windows driver, setting the bed position, leveling the bed, doing your first print and stuff like that. It is intended to streamline the process of taking the machine out of the box through your first print. You'll only need it to set the z offset. It runs on windows, mac and linux. Though it has a complete control interface so you may find that you like it
