Testers Needed
Re: Testers Needed
jimc - what exact OS(es?) have you tried, and if it crashed, what error message did you receive?
PcS - as long as your firmware supports full M206 (homing offset) gcode, and storing them to EEPROM with M500, the "starting height" adjustments will work fine.
General - thanks for the input on the links in the instructions - Adobe reader seems to be splitting those very weirdly (on my computer, fairly new Reader version, the firmware link works, but none of the others...), so we're addressing that.

Re: Testers Needed
Do I remember correctly that there was planned to be a Linux version of the setup application? If so I'd be tempted to try it on a Raspberry Pi, though Windows is also a possibility for me. I didn't see a link to a Linux version in the PDF instructions.
Re: Testers Needed
josh on osx 10.11.2 it would give a warning that "this software is or may be incompatible with this version of osx" when I clicked on it. then I clicked the ignore button, the window closes and nothing happens. it would not run or do anything. I would get that each time I tried it. now this morning I updated to 10.11.3 and the second I click on the app, it instantly crashes and spits out a crash report. it doesn't even get a chance to run at all. the crash is instant. the report is small I can easily get that to you if you need it. I can email it to you later if it helps.
as for the windows version. that is 10 and like I said it runs but its all crazy looking with jumbled text, pics and buttons.

Re: Testers Needed
jimc - yes, if you could send me the crash report, and some screenshots (perhaps even cellphone/etc. pictures of the screen, to show relative sizing as well as pixel level stuff from a computer screenshot), it would be greatly appreciated. PM or email (josh, at the obvious domain).
sprior - yes, there is a Linux version, but it currently requires...steps. I'll PM you the link and information we have.

Re: Testers Needed
I've built Linux machines entirely from source, so ....steps aren't necessarily a problem

Re: Testers Needed
Fair enough X) PM sent - let me know how things go, if there's anything specific needed extra, etc. etc.
Re: Testers Needed
It looks like the Linux version is precompiled and probably Intel processor specific - that eliminates Raspberry Pi as a possibility, though I think that would be a good platform for this to run on.
Re: Testers Needed
Ok so I need some help.... I installed the new spider and bottom z stop switch. I've never done firmware before but I'm pretty sure I did the firmware right (it said successful) but when I run the Quick start program and get to the position platform part as soon as I click the button it tries to drive the platform down (but its all ready down) so the motor just clicks. I tried manually raising it and clicking the button and then testing the end stop but it doesn't work. I'm 98% sure I plugged it in right. So I'm not sure where to go from here or how to check if the firmware installed correctly. Any ideas?

Re: Testers Needed
steve, i have not had a chance to make it through any of the app yet since i have been working with josh a little just to get the app working. for any of the mac guys, just redownload it. it should work now.
Re: Testers Needed
The quick start guide looks fine for me but I'm on and older laptop with windows 7.
The new end stop does plug in backwards? (so to speak) empty spot toward the rear... compared to the old one right? empty spot toward the front on the old ones (X,Y anyway) and to the right of the old z of course.
