Hey jim - speaking of flat build platforms - i got a question for you - do you still do the edge finishing on MIC6 plates? I'd like to try one, with a PEI sheet attached to it i think. (Don't want to have to mess with adhesives again.)

Do you think that would work?

Well soon I'll be using my Mic6 plate too, so we'll see how that goes!

 Oh dear, here's where you're going to wish you'd never asked....in my opinion that is an A. If you want an A+, I would run yet another at -0.23 mm. But it's up to you. If you're tired of messing with it, I'll understand.

That's it though....your Z-Offset needs to be from -0.23 mm to -0.24 mm. (Be sure to save it and export the profile to your desktop so that you don't over write it.) And you can try your larger print to see how it turns out. I think you'll be much happier with the surface of the case. :D

Jules, yes i do. Just made one here for sal. I cut to size then blast one side. Boasted side is for adhesive and the smooth side would be to stick things to like tape, pei, etc. as long as you have a way to stick the pei down i think that would work great. If you absolutely know that you dont ever want to use hairspray then yo can avoid my service all together and just order a plate from onlinemetals already cut to size. Its the blasted side which i do that has to be just the right finish or it doesn't work. That side is so the adhesives bond to the plate right.

Okay I got to it this morning!!

Here is Z-23...I think Z-24 looks the best, but I'm going to print that one again to be sure!!

I printed at -.24 again and it looks good...

Now depending where I measure it, I get a height of either 2.0-1.96...Certainly not locked at 2.0 all around. Is that expected?

Do others see this when measuring? Or is it locked at 2.0 when measuring ever side?

Yeah, unfortunately we just have to work around that - most digital calipers just can't accurately measure tolerances this small (without having purchased a professional $200+ pair). Mine are still pretty squidgy, and they cost me $85. (Still not too happy about that. ) You can take an average or just make sure one side comes out to 2.0 mm. It's going to be close enough.

I think your Z-Offset cube of Z-0.23 has achieved perfection, (even to my standards :) ), but when you take this a lot larger with your case print, it might be a little too much gap, so you could use Z-0.24 and get it squished down a little bit more, particularly if you like the surface on it better. (It's harder to tell from a picture, than when you have it in hand, and you're the one who has to be pleased with it. ;) )

Post a pic of your final case so we can see the difference. :D

:D Great! i'll send you a PM later today to get your address. (Just going to have it sent straight to you for the cut and beading.) Definitely think it would be good to have one side that could be used for adhesive in case I need it down the road for some filament I haven't tried yet. :) )
