Banding Getting Worse...Poor Quality
Re: Banding Getting Worse...Poor Quality
Where is a good place to buy denatured alcohol and how is it different from isopropyl alcohol? I've been using isopropyl to clean my boro glass.

Hardware store.

Denatured alcohol is basically poisoned vodka: it has enough methanol (or other additives) to kill you, but not enough to affect ethanol's useful properties:CCRN wrote:how is it different from isopropyl alcohol?

Isopropyl alcohol is straight-up poison, but a great solvent for common gunk-on-glass:

Both come from big-box home supply stores in convenient metal cans...

thank you both. I think I could manage it.
I just wish I had a torch, my propane grill seems a bit inconvenient trying it on.

The can of alcohol plus a bog-standard propane torch will run you a grand total of $15 at a hardware store. It's about the cost of a nozzle + shipping, and will resurrect a clogged nozzle a few times.wisdomknight wrote:thank you both. I think I could manage it.

I use a #80 drill bit in a pin vice to clean out the .35mm nozzles. I have a .24mm plug gauge (more of a wire than a plug) that I have used for the .25mm nozzle.
