Jim I ordered a set of the E3D's. Does your design on Thingiverse apply to the current version? I think it does from the description but just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Yes there are files there for the v5 and v6. The duct is the same on both. The drive and fan cover are different. They should be labeled

Thanks, I like the high-tech look. Looking forward to trying it out.

print in abs at 80-90% infill. check your preview in s3d for the duct. the walls are thin so be sure your printing it solid. i believe the width needs to be bumped up or down to get right.

I'll probably be giving it a try tomorrow. My extrusion width is at .50 that sound ok? Or do you recommend higher? Layer height at .20 sound ok?

Its been awhile but i think i had to lower the width to maybe .40 so 2 perimeters would fit. Just keep checking in the preview. You will see if its just 1 perimeter and hollow or its being printed solid. I usually print at .15 layer height. Also do manual supports. Remove it out of any tiny holes

Ok Jim, this is my first try. I chickened out of making manual supports but I was able to get them off relatively easy. I think this is probably my first ABS piece except for the spare parts I've printed, so feel free to point our errors. I used .15 layer height, .40 width, nozzle at 240, bed at 105, 90% infill. Also curious if you guys brush on anything on the inside of thin parts like these to make them a little stronger?

At this point the thin circular duct looks pretty solid to me?

Some thin filament strands hanging off the very tip of the duct. Not sure how to avoid that. But these are very close up photos not as bad as it looks.

yeah man looks good to me. couple bumps but thats nothin and im sure are way worse in the pic than in person. that piece looks big in pics but its really quite small. i dont brush anything on them. that piece should be pretty tough when its done since its basically solid.
