Heck, couldn't wait for it to finish. Here are a few photos. In the first you can see the bumpiness of the filament itself. Not severe, but certainly visible. And not causing any issues. The other is the print in progress. The LED lights show off the great color of the translucent blue.

petg filament---tolerance isn't great, but doesn't seem to cause any issues.

thats really nice tim. i just walked in the door from work and i have a big box here for me too. you know the samples i got i put calipers all over it and it varied .002-.003" which is normal for most filament. i didnt remember seeing the bumps in it but who knows. i had no issues with it though either. the surface of the stuff is textured which i like. its like my original roll of makergear pla. it slides through the tube easier.

looks good steve.

ok i just opened up a yellow and a blue to check it out. on each roll i pulled off maybe 5-6ft and closely inspected it. i have no bumps in either one. the extrusion seems perfect. this is definately different from my samples i got a maker faire though. the plastic may be the same formula, who knows but the texture that i had in my sample rolls in not in the production stuff. this is for the most part somewhat smooth. the sample stuff almost had a gritty texture to it like the black paint on a computer case. really makes no difference i guess, its just something i see different. also the yellow colorant they ended up using in this production stuff is different. my samples were more chartreuse. i like the new yellow a little better. the other stuff was a little odd.

Tim and sprior,

NOOICE! (Ref: Key and Peele) Can't wait to get mine, but I have to because I had it shipped to my office -- so I'll have it Monday. I got the natural (clear) -- so I'll be able to compare it directly with my clear Madesolid PET+. I'll get you some pics side by side when I get a chance to print.

jimc wrote:well so far my settings are very similar to abs BUT i use an e3d hot end which changes things a bit. my settings wont really work for the v3b. 245-250 with the bed at 70 is a good start. bed fan is on 60% at 2nd layer.

Ok, This may be a silly q, but how do I get my fan to work at 60%? I set it to come on at 60% on the 2nd layer, but it only comes on for a second (I do have it set to "blip" the fan to full power when it starts in S3D, so I figure that's why).

I am running 24v, but haven't ever ran the fan at less than 100%.

Thanks!

The natural could certainly be used as a LED diffusers. maybe even as light pipes?

just run it 100%. i lost track of all the different fan configurations and what works at what. some fans i dont think like less than 100%. light pies yes but i think you need a big nozzle and print at high layer heights. if you go on taulman's site and look at the t-glass. they have a bunch of recommendations for how to print for clarity.

The magenta vase is printing with the V4 extruder at 250C and an aluminum bed at 70C with glue stick. The first attempt didn't stick so I reapplied the glue extra heavy and then it worked, will bump up the bed temp by 10 degrees next time.
