Buying the M2: Help me start out right
Re: Buying the M2: Help me start out right
Jeff - you can ask your other questions here too...about max temp, support, nylon, etc.

Without saying too much more, I'm trying to sell my Ultimaker to buy a second M2. I did have the Ultimaker1, with dual-extruders and a heated bed. The M2 just fits my needs better.jeffpowell101 wrote:Thanks guys.
Insta, would you reccomend the ultimaker (assuming you have the 2) or the M2?
Also been looking at the TAZ4

Re: Buying the M2: Help me start out right
I just received mine the other day and I can say I am more than satisfied with my decision. I previously owned a Flashforge Creator, which wasn't bad...... it just wasn't that great either
I wanted something more professional that didn't have to mess with as often and that wasn't made of wood. After a few months looking around and reading all the great reviews I choose the M2 over everything else because #1 it is extremely well engineered! and #2 the amount of support behind it. For the money, I doubt you will find a better printer.
As for starting out right, listen to the advice in this thread and don't be afraid to ask questions! With the help of this forum I built the M2 in under a day and haven't had any major issues, not really any minor ones either. It just works!

Re: Buying the M2: Help me start out right
So I think i'm sold and am going to buy one of these.
Any advice on retailers, how to get the best price / receive it the quickest?
Any advice on accessories? I'm planning on making a simple acrylic enclosure to keep heat in and moisture out, but will look in to way to make it a better environment.

Jeff - the stock M2 nozzle is for 1.75mm filament.

Jeff, you can buy the m2 direct from makergear or on amazon. There are no other retailers that i know of. Cost doesnt vary. There is nothing in the way of accessories that are needed. The only option is an lcd screen but thats not necessary. The m2 comes well equipt with everything. Any additions or mods can be printed.

Re: Buying the M2: Help me start out right
I am in a similar situation as helifrek - I've owned a Flashforge Creator since Dec. 2013...printed out a ton of stuff but am now ready to upgrade. After comparing the Taz 4 vs. M2, I decided on the M2 as I needed finer print quality and didn't need the huge print area of the Taz 4. Just ordered my M2 kit + LCD module yesterday and can't wait!

Additional thanks to helifrek for the other thread you started back in Nov. when you were asking about buying your M2....was helpful for me to pull the trigger on the M2 yesterday.
